Employee time tracking with a “clock in, clock out” system is an age-old method—but even modern implementations can be clunky and inefficient, wasting time for both the employee clocking in or out as well as the human resources team who has to process all that information.
Having said that, the system has stuck around for so long because it works, but perhaps it could work better—at least that’s what EtiQube set out to do with their ET-Badge Xerox ConnectKey app, and we think they did a great job.
In today’s post, we’ll take a look at the ET-Badge app, how it helps both employees and human resources managers save time, and how the app and web portal work.
Time to clock in:
What is the ET-Badge App?
The ET-Badge Xerox ConnectKey app by EtiQube is an employee time tracking solution designed to be compatible with modern Xerox multifunction printers. Featuring both an app for your Xerox device and a web portal, the system allows employees to clock in or out with either a physical badge or a PIN, or both, if desired.
The physical badge/card is likely the faster of the two options, but administrators can choose to allow for both authentication systems (badge and/or PIN) to be functional for employees. This, we suspect, would be very helpful for employees who misplaced their badges or forgot their PIN.
Packed With Time Saving Features for Employees & Business Owners
The web portal allows administrators to at-a-glance check when employees clocked in and out and can create detailed reports to make human resources and payroll’s job faster and easier. Since employees can use any configured Xerox ConnectKey-enabled device to clock in or out, this is a suitable solution for both small businesses with a single Xerox device as well as large businesses with an entire fleet of printers.
But what about tracking employee time during remote work hours? It’s crucial during this day and age. The ET-Badge system also allows for online clocking in or out from any internet-capable device, allowing your employees to work from home or anywhere and still participate in the system.
How The ET-Badge ConnectKey App Works
This official EtiQube video gives a quick but thorough rundown of how the ET-Badge app works:
As you can see, the system works seamlessly between both the Xerox ConnectKey app and the web portal. After you’ve installed the app on your Xerox device, you’ll set up the primary configuration via the web portal. During this time, you’ll be able to choose what authentication method you want to use (PIN or badge) as well.

Had it been available on the App Gallery at the time we wrote it, the ET-Badge app would have made a fine addition to our post What Workflow Automation “Pain Points” Can Your Office Start Automating? wherein we explore common pain points—think of them as efficiency-draining systems or practices—because EtiQube’s solution to speeding up and simplifying employee clocking in and out is a great addition to any workplace with these needs.
Apps like the ET-Badge solution are far from the only thing you can do with modern Xerox technology.
