Do you use your Xerox MFP’s scan to email feature?
If you’re a user of Google’s Gmail, you may have encountered an error recently. In today’s entry on the Professional Document Solutions blog, we’re going to discuss what happened and what needs to be done to fix the problem. Fortunately, it’s an easy fix.
The gist of what happened is this: for security reasons, Google now requires Gmail account users to use a Google App Password. This was a decision made by Google, not Xerox—and while Xerox has nothing to do with these changes, your machine is still compatible with Gmail for all features you’ve come to rely on. The only difference is that now you have to use a Google App Password, which we’ll explain in the following section.

Google has recently rolled out what they call the Google App Password, which is a 16-digit password which users of Gmail and other Google products are required to use in order to allow other apps or platforms to access the data stored in their Google account. This is why your Xerox machine needs this to be set up before being able to continue using the scan to Gmail feature.
To enable or find your Google App Password, simply visit your Google settings and turn on 2-step verification. Once you do so, you’ll be able to retrieve or set a Google App Password and then authenticate your Xerox multifunction printer or other ConnectKey enabled device.
