For now, let’s take a moment to answer the question that’s probably at the top of your mind. Both printers look great, but what’s the difference between them? Which should you choose for your unique needs?
The difference mostly comes down to speed and paper capacity. The C240 prints at about 26 pages per minute in color and black. The C300 moves a bit faster, reaching up to 32 pages per minute on letter sized paper, with the first page arriving in a little over eight seconds.
As for paper capacity, the C300 comes with a 250-sheet tray plus a single-sheet manual feed for letterhead or an envelope, and you can add two more 250-sheet trays to reach 750 sheets total (well, technically, 751). The C300 is also rated for a monthly duty cycle of 75,000 pages, with roughly 5,000 pages a month considered a comfortable everyday workload. Comparatively, the C240 is designed to stay compact at its standard 250-sheet capacity and single-sheet manual feed.
Both machines are compatible with all the must-have Xerox features, like wireless printing, or quick and easy setup with the Xerox Easy Assist app. From a security perspective, both are consistent with Xerox’s industry-leading position, and even include support for post-quantum cryptography (which basically means these printers are designed to hold up as encryption standards evolve over the next decade).
How To Choose Which Printer Is Right for Your Unique Needs
The C240 is a perfect choice for small businesses and home offices where printing happens in bursts rather than all day. Its compact size means it can easily fit on the spare corner of a desk, and the 250-sheet tray covers a normal week without much attention. If your monthly volume is light and your jobs run a few pages at a time, it’s a great, budget-friendly choice.
The C300 suits a faster tempo and longer jobs. Offices that many documents, and longer documents generally, will see the biggest benefit. Thanks to the quicker page output speed and larger tray, long runs can finish without waiting next to the printer with a fresh ream of paper.
