Did you know that it’s possible to use a convenient web interface to control, monitor, or configure your Xerox device?
Sometimes called the remote control panel, this feature has been present in most Xerox devices for many years. Previous models call the platform CentreWare Internet Services. More modern Xerox devices, such as the AltaLink or VersaLink series, refer to this feature as the device’s Embedded Web Server (EWS).

How the Remote Control Panel Works: Embedded Web Server or CentreWare Internet Services
As mentioned, newer Xerox devices, such as those from the AltaLink or VersaLink product lines, are equipped with an embedded web server. Older devices were equipped with the CentreWare Internet Services platform. However, these two platforms perform essentially the same function: to provide a web-accessible control panel for users and print administrators to access.
In order to use the EWS, the printer—of course—must be networked. It doesn’t need to have internet access, but if the user plans on accessing the printer from another device, both of those devices must be on the same network. The control panel isn’t accessible via USB or other connection types. The web server must also be enabled on the device, if it isn’t by default already as is often the case.
The Benefits of Remotely Controlling & Configuring Your Xerox Device
Once everything is running, the user will access the control panel via the printer’s IP address. If you don’t know your printer’s IP address and IT support isn’t available to discover it for you, the easiest way to find out what it is is by printing a configuration report. This report, along with other useful information, will list the printer’s IP address.
Once you’ve accessed the remote control panel, you can configure the printer as though you were standing in front of it. You’ll also be able to access helpful monitoring information, such as print supplies remaining (such as paper or toner).
